It's a Wonderful Life: George Bailey Is Not the Hero

I’ve been feeling out of sorts lately, and you know which white dude got me out of my funk? George Bailey. He was the ultimate family dude who wanted to travel the world (truly relatable) and instead, he decides to just live a respectable, upstanding, humble life in his little sleepy New York town because people are depending on him. Even though his peers are all richer and more successful and presumably sold out, and he gets very little gratification other than the goodness of his own heart and possibly sleeping at night with the knowledge he’s a very kind dude. George Bailey still keeps up his nice guy act, even when he’s lost everything.

George Bailey became my internal object of “ideal man,” but instead of trying to marry a George Bailey, I became someone who identified as a George Bailey.
